Graveyard Keeper 2 on Switch and Switch 2

Nintendo sells the game twice — once for Switch, once for Switch 2 — at the same price and on the same day, and the Switch page states plainly that its build also runs on Switch 2. That makes the second listing a convenience rather than an upgrade.

Both entries are live and pre-orderable. The differences are small enough that the choice mostly comes down to which icon you want in your library.

Nintendo’s own Switch 2 verdict

The Switch listing carries a Switch 2 Compatibility Information panel that reads "Supported — Game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch." In plain terms: the Switch build runs on Switch 2 with no reported behavioural difference, and Nintendo is not marketing an enhanced Switch 2 version — no frame-rate claim, no resolution claim, no mouse-control claim. This site found no Nintendo or Lazy Bear statement describing performance on either system.

Performance: what is and is not published

Frame rate and resolution are the two things people search for on a Switch page, and neither is published anywhere for this game.

Not published: frame rate

No Nintendo listing, press release or developer statement names a target frame rate on Switch or Switch 2. Any figure you see quoted before launch is a guess.

Not published: resolution

Docked and handheld resolutions are likewise unpublished. Nintendo lists only the play modes the game supports, not what it renders at in each.

Published: file size

Under a gigabyte on both systems — 792 MB on Switch, 780 MB on Switch 2. For a management sim with a 3D world this is small enough that a microSD card is largely optional.

Published: modes and accessories

All three play modes are supported, and the Switch entry lists the touch screen as a supported accessory feature. Pro Controller support is not separately listed.

Save data and cross-buy

Two separate products means two separate purchases, which is the part worth knowing before you buy.

  • The Switch and Switch 2 versions are sold as distinct eShop products. There is no bundled cross-buy listing that grants both from one purchase.
  • Nintendo Account family-group lending is listed as supported, so the purchase can be lent within a family group under Nintendo’s usual terms.
  • Switch Online save-data cloud backup is indicated on the listing, which protects progress if the console is lost — but it does not move a save between the Switch and Switch 2 products, and nothing published says it does.
  • No cross-save with PC or PlayStation is announced. The pre-release demo’s save transfer applies to carrying a Steam demo save into the Steam full game, not across platforms.

Where these facts come from

Graveyard Keeper 2 is not out yet, so nothing here is reproduced from a finished-game wiki. Each entry below is labelled by what it is: a developer or publisher source, a platform store listing, a press report, a video, or a fan-maintained page. Fan pages are used for terminology only, never for numbers.

  • Store listing Nintendo eShop US — Graveyard Keeper 2 (Switch)Read 2026-09-16. Releases 9/22/26 at $19.99 USD with the discount window closing 9/22/26 at 04:59 p.m. UTC; 792 MB, single system, TV/tabletop/handheld, ESRB Teen. Carries the Switch 2 compatibility verdict "Supported – Game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch". Tagged Action, Simulation, Pixel art and Voiced characters.
  • Store listing Nintendo eShop US — Graveyard Keeper 2 (Switch 2)A second, separate eShop entry for Switch 2 with the same release date and $19.99 price; 780 MB. Nintendo asserts no enhanced-feature tier for it, so the two SKUs are documented here as one build sold twice.
  • Store listing Nintendo eShop US — Graveyard Keeper 2 Pre-Order BonusThe pre-order bonus is distributed as its own eShop product on Nintendo, releasing 9/22/26. This is the same sauna-and-outfit bundle described in full on the PlayStation listing.
  • Store listing Graveyard Keeper 2 on Steam (app 4358690)The most detailed platform listing: 11 interface languages, single-player only, full controller support with DualShock and DualSense entries, Steam Cloud, Achievements, Family Sharing, and the Windows minimum and recommended specifications.
Questions

Switch questions

Should I buy the Switch version or the Switch 2 version?

Functionally, the listings describe the same game at the same price on the same day, and Nintendo states the Switch version behaves consistently on Switch 2. Nothing published distinguishes them, so there is no documented performance reason to prefer one. If you own both consoles, the Switch build is the one Nintendo explicitly confirms runs on either.

Does the Switch version run on Switch 2?

Yes. The Switch eShop page carries the compatibility line "Supported — Game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch", which is Nintendo’s statement that the game plays on Switch 2 hardware.

How big is Graveyard Keeper 2 on Switch?

792 MB on Switch and 780 MB on Switch 2, per the two eShop listings. Neither figure includes any post-launch patch.

Is there a Switch demo?

Not listed. Nintendo’s eShop shows no demo product for either entry. The pre-release demo this site can verify is the Steam one, released September 14, 2026.

Is Graveyard Keeper 2 on Switch physical?

The eShop listing describes the edition as "Digital" for both entries. No physical release is announced on Nintendo’s US store.

Can I preload it on Switch?

Not announced. The Nintendo listings confirm pre-order purchase and give a discount deadline of 9/22/26 at 04:59 p.m. UTC, but publish no preload timestamp.
